Single Needle Tattooing Aftercare

Why I choose Saniderm aftercare bandage
Saniderm creates a barrier around your freshly tattooed skin, protecting it from dust, bacteria, moisture, and other external irritants.
This transparent tattoo aftercare bandage is completely waterproof yet breathable to ensure that the skin receives the airflow it needs to heal and remain sweat-free.
Using a product like Saniderm, specifically designed for tattoo aftercare, allows your tattoo to heal safely and look like the masterpiece it is.

What to avoid while wearing your Saniderm bandage:
-
Showering while wearing Saniderm is fine, but it’s best to keep the time spent in the shower to a minimum as water will weaken the adhesive, allowing unwanted contaminants to enter the bandage and putting you at higher risk for infection.
-
Avoid hot showers as too much heat can inflame the skin and irritate the tattoo.
-
Avoid bathing, swimming, or fully submerging your tattoo in water.
-
Avoid any activity that causes excessive sweating as this will also weaken the adhesive.
-
If the bandage comes off before the 7th day, do not apply any other form of bandaging or cover and begin moisturizing the tattoo with the provided ointment.

Saniderm Removal

Step 1: To remove Saniderm, find an edge of the bandage and pull it back over itself in the direction of hair growth. The shower is the ideal place to remove Saniderm. Running water will help loosen the adhesive and relax the skin, making the removal much more comfortable. Dry removal of Saniderm may cause discomfort and added trauma to the skin.

Step 2: Discard the used bandage and wash the tattoo with a mild soap, preferably fragrance-free.
Allow the tattoo to air dry, do not use a cloth to dry the area.

Caring for your new tattoo after removing Saniderm
Once the bandage has been removed, continue caring for the tattoo by applying the provided healing ointment twice daily until the ointment is fully used. This ointment is formulated with medicinal-grade, all-natural ingredients such as Calendula and grapefruit oil to help reduce irritation and support the healing process, while also preserving pigment integrity during the settling phase. Created by artists who understand the healing process, this formula supports proper ink settling—so please do not substitute or combine with other topical products during the healing period, as this may interfere with your tattoo’s recovery and ink retention.
This product is also available for purchase at Lovely Canvas.

Sunscreen is crucial for maintaining the longevity and vibrancy of your tattoo. UV rays from the sun can cause fading and damage to the ink pigments in your tattoo over time. Applying sunscreen with a high SPF to your tattooed skin helps prevent fading and protects the colors from being broken down by the sun's rays. Remember, consistent sunscreen application is essential not only for preserving the appearance of your tattoo but also for maintaining the health of your skin in the long run.

Everything you need to know about your new tattoo!

HEALED RESULTS AND LONGEVITY WILL VARY BETWEEN EACH INDIVIDUAL CLIENT. Even when following the aftercare instructions; fading, blurring or poor retention can happen depending on your skin, body chemistry, sun exposure and lifestyle. Each client’s skin responds differently, both in the length of time it takes to heal, and the number of sessions required to achieve your desired results.

Touch Ups
If you book a future tattoo appointment for a new piece, touchups on previous tattoos are complimentary during that appointment. Notice is required when scheduling the appointment in order to reserve enough time for the touchup. Please note that touchups are not complimentary if the tattoo has undergone any trauma due to physical injury.
If you wish to book a touchup only, a fee may be required to cover operational costs.
To book a touchup, please leave a voicemail at my studio (778) 426-4432 and I will return your call to book the appointment.
A NOTE ON HANDS, FEET AND OTHER FLEXION POINTS:
The healed results on body parts that move a great deal or have extra rough and thin skin, are less predictable than on more stable areas of the body. Therefore, they have a much higher probability of fading and/or uneven healing.
Many tattoo artists refuse to tattoo these areas for this reason. If you choose to proceed with having the following areas tattooed, you understand that you may experience fading and/or uneven healing.
Therefore, I do not guarantee tattoos that are done on the hands, wrists, fingers, feet, ankles, necks, or flexion points on the body and touch-ups will be charged at my hourly rate.
