Frequently Asked Questions
Ssingle needle tattooing is a highly specialized and cutting-edge technique that delivers flawless finish and perfect definition.
Single needle tattoos are characterized by the high levels of detail that can be achieved in comparatively small designs. Modern, single needle tattoos use an approach that is reminiscent of pencil drawings, with airbrush-like, smooth shading and hyper-realistic details. The precise and detailed appearance is polar opposite to the usual bold lines and bright colors found in the traditional tattoos.
I am immensely grateful for the volume of interest and inquires received. However, being only one artist with a fully booked schedule, in a private studio without a receptionist or assistant; I am unable to answer emails or direct messages via text, Instagram or Facebook. Questions that are sent via email, that can be answered by looking through my Frequently Asked Question(s on either my website or Instagram) will not be prioritized.
All other Emails and Voicemails will be answered in the order they were received.
Please note, that I do not respond to emails with inspirational photos for your tattoo appointment unless I have a question regarding the subject matter.
Thank you!
Price Guideline:
To help manage expectations, here are some general price ranges. To help manage expectations, here are some general price ranges. My shop minimum is $250 + GST, and I charge per session, not hourly. Therefore, the cost is determined by the intricacy, size, and design complexity, as well as the number of pieces requested. The guidelines below outline the estimated total cost you can expect to be quoted.
Small-scale designs such as names, short quotes, or tiny symbols, letter and/or numbers are generally priced starting at $250 before GST
Small to medium-scale designs, or the more refined and detailed tattoos featured throughout my portfolio, usually fall within the $400–$900 range before GST
Heavily intricate or larger-scale designs — such as floral hip pieces, full or partial sleeves, larger animal portraits, or multiple medium-to-large tattoo requests (three or more) — typically require a larger investment, starting at $1,200 + GST.
The preparation required to open my books and carefully review each submission is a detailed and intentional process. By charging a submission fee, I’m able to dedicate the time (approx. 30min per 100+ submissions = averaging 50 hours), effort, and attention necessary to thoughtfully evaluate each client's unique vision and needs before crafting a personalized quote. This fee will be credited toward the final cost of your tattoo, becoming part of your overall investment in bringing your vision to life. Since the fee covers the comprehensive work involved in reviewing and preparing for potential projects, it is non-refundable. The only exception is if your submission does not align with my artistic vision and I choose not to book the project, in which case the fee will be refunded. This policy ensures fairness and reflects the value of the careful consideration I give to every request.
Submission Fee Policy Review
Non-Refundable Submission Fee
Submission fees are non-refundable if you choose not to proceed with booking an appointment for any reason. This includes, but is not limited to: determining the project is outside your budget after receiving a quote, a change of mind, scheduling conflicts, changes in personal circumstances, or changes in health. Please note that submission fees do not expire, which means you're welcome to take the time you need to plan, save, or return to the idea when the timing feels right, provided the original concept remains the same.
Non-Transferable Submission Fee
Submission Fees are non-transferable if you change your mind about the content or direction of your original submission.
Exceptions resulting in a Refundable Submission Fee
Deposits will only be refunded if I determine that the project does not align with my artistic vision and I choose not to move forward with booking.
Tipping is greatly appreciated but not expected! I understand that tattoos are an investment and I appreciate that you have chosen me as your artist. If you wish to tip, I have the available options of 12%, 15%, 18% or Custom Amount on my payment machine. Some clients choose to surprise me with a coffee gift card which I adore! or a hug which is always welcomed!
I accept Visa, Mastercard, Debit and Cash!
Even with parental consent, all clients must be 18 years or older to get tattooed. If you are 17 years old, you may book a future appointment as long as you are 18 years of age at the time of your appointment. A piece of Government ID is required to prove age.
Although perceptions of pain are highly subjective, single needle tattoos are known to be considerable more comfortable than traditional tattooing! This is because there is only 1 needle entering the skin to create a thin crisp line; where as traditional tattooing uses 3-20+ needles to create bolder lines.
Fine line tattoos are just as permanent as traditional tattooing. However, due to the delicate technique - the final result will appear softer and more subtle.
The precision involved in the artistic style involved with this tattoo lies not only with the artist, but also the tools used to achieve a masterful result. Thin lines and accompanying details require tattoo artists to use a single needle. This allows for enhanced precision and space for details when it comes to the tattooing process.
Single Needle tattooing requires a very steady and accurate hand. Unfamiliar artists might be hesitant because this type of tattoo leaves little room for error.
However, I specialize in Nanoblading which involves tattooing single hairstrokes within the eyebrow and used these skills to transition into my body tattooing service. It feels like second nature to me!
While tattoos are permanent, factors such as the delicate nature of single-needle work and environmental stressors such as sun exposure, skin texture changes, aging, and lifestyle choices can affect their appearance over time, which may warrant touch-ups to preserve the desired result.
TOUCHUP POLICY:
When you schedule a new tattoo appointment, touch-ups on previous tattoos are complimentary during that session. To take advantage of this offer, please wait until my schedule reopens and submit a form. Be sure to include the details of your new tattoo idea and mention your touch-up request in the notes section.
I also offer complimentary touch-ups, at my own descretion, if you reach out within 4 weeks of receiving your tattoo by scheduling a telephone call through my online booking system.
If more than 4 weeks have passed since your tattoo, a small fee will apply for touch-ups to cover operational costs. To proceed with this option, you can book the same Scheduled Telephone Call online, and we’ll arrange your touch-up appointment during that call.
Please note that touchups are not complimentary if:
- The tattoo has undergone any trauma due to physical injury.
- The tattoo's placement is on the hands, feet and or other flexion points.
A NOTE ON HANDS, FEET AND OTHER FLEXION POINTS:
The healed results on body parts that move a great deal or have extra rough and thin skin, are less predictable than on more stable areas of the body. Therefore, they have a much higher probability of fading and/or uneven healing.
Many tattoo artists refuse to tattoo these areas for this reason. If you choose to proceed with having the following areas tattooed, you understand that you may experience fading and/or uneven healing. Therefore, areas such as the hands, wrists, fingers, feet, ankles, necks, and other flexion points may require multiple touchups at an additional cost over many years to maintain your desired results.
Absolutely! I have two chairs in my waiting area for any guests you wish to bring to your appointment. However, please note that they must sit in the consulting area, and too much chatter can make it increasingly difficult for me to concentrate so I ask you refrain from conversation once the tattooing begins.
I will not tattoo the palms of the hand, bottom of the feet, inside the lip or on the face.
I do not tattoo coverups, however I am happy to add on or work around existing tattoos!
